Personally I have been using all 4 terminals, right now kitty fits my workflow the best, but things can change. Using the GPU for rendering enables optimizations that simply arent possible without it. Alacritty is the fastest terminal emulator in existence. Guess that all depends on if you need the function or not. Alacritty is a cross-platform, GPU-accelerated terminal emulator. Alacritty is supposed to work well with tmux because after all that's what it's designed for, but it lacks some capability in tmux as summarised in the table. Kitty is also fast, but is not included in that benchmarking link. Also, I have highlighted the key features for every terminal emulator mentioned, choose what you prefer. I’ve tried to list the interesting ones first followed by some of the most popular terminal emulators. With GPU acceleration on, iTerm2's latency improves a lot, but you have to turn off font ligature, which is listed in my table. The list is in no particular order of ranking. With GPU acceleration off, iTerm2's latency is so bad from my experience, similar to the benchmark. So in the link you provided, I'm not sure if the author opened GPU acceleration in iTerm2. Many knowledgeable people has done the latency benchmarking, that's why I stated I only compared the listed capabilities, which is minor but not much summarised so far. Thank you for the link! Yes that's what matters the most. But we use terminal emulators (software that emulates the functions of those old terminals) to type commands into a command-line interface using windows/linux/mac whatever.
